Policy & Capacity-Building

Evidence for policy

I aim to bridge research and reality, using fieldwork and data to improve how policies and programmes support entrepreneurs, workers, and communities facing everyday challenges.

I advise the Mozambican Ministry of Planning and Development on data use and inclusive policy design to strengthen national planning and evaluation capacity.

My research on informality and MSME development provides some of the only systematic evidence on enterprise dynamics in Mozambique and has become a reference point in national policy debates. This work supports government and development partners in designing more realistic interventions for the private sector.

Capacity-building

I design and deliver training on survey design, econometric methods, and data analysis to public officials, researchers, and students, enhancing statistical literacy, promoting evidence-based decision-making, and elevating public debate

From 2023 to 2025, I have led and mentored a cohort of eight Mozambican junior researchers. Several have since progressed to Master’s programmes at leading European universities and co-authored scientific articles
